Lie Detector Location Challenge
The polygraph test often inspires fear and even concern to people who are completely innocent and who in principle can pass this test without cheating or try to change the results. But there is always a concern that the test will give erroneous results and you may end up in trouble. There is also some doubt about lie detectors passing the location challenge i.e. whether it will give the same result irrespective of the location of the settings (Home, Office or any other place).
Location Challenge
First of all, a Lie Detector Test is taken in a good controlled as well as a neutral setting with very little distractions or interruptions as far as possible. It is not taken in a home setting or any other place to be able to make an effort to put the individual involved comfortable and relaxed. Then also there exists a consultation period before you get down to the main questions where you are asked the questions of importance. During this preparation time, all the possible efforts are made to make you relaxed and be at ease.
What to do before a polygraph examination
A polygraph in itself cannot detect lies, but it records various physiological changes, such as changes in blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and sweating, and it is these physiological changes that can detect a lie. So the change in location may affect a person regarding these parameters which in turns can affect the results. You have to be completely relaxed as far as possible before and during the test. However, a seasoned polygraph examiner can make you feel comfortable during the pretest session and distinguish between nervousness and lies.
Avoid unnecessary fear about the process
The procedure and equipment will be checked before the start of the examination. It will not hurt you to familiarize yourself with the basics of detecting lies, but avoid thinking about the horrible stories on the internet about the issue, as it will only unnecessarily increase your nervousness. Strive not to think too much about the issue in advance. More than the location challenge it is your fear that is more dangerous for an erroneous result.
If you spend a lot of time worrying about the exam before you endure it, you risk getting adverse results by showing clues that will unfairly condemn you. Avoid asking yourself questions about this exam or trying to guess the questions you will be asked.
